The COVID-19 epidemic, which has affected the majority of countries of the world, requires a quick response, especially when it comes to those who are already affected by an equally dangerous disease - tuberculosis. It is necessary not only to protect them from the new virus, but also to take all possible and necessary measures in order to ensure the continuity of providing them with tuberculosis care in full.

The PAS Center team has developed and distributed to TB-REP 2.0 countries’ stakeholders and other interested parties the “Risk assessment and contingency planning tool for health systems functioning and ensuring continuity of TB and HIV services”. The use of the tool, which is a table that contains all the elements of sustainable health care systems and continuous care services, allows you to systematically assess risks and plan possible measures to mitigate changes in the provision of services, evaluate additional resources and sources of funding.

In response to PAS Center invitation to share for collective learning and mutual support measures taken by countries to reduce effects of Covid-19 on continuity of services, National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) of the Republic of Moldova sent the developed recommendations for organization of the territorial TB service activity in the emergency situation connected to COVID-19 epidemic. The recommendations are intended for providers of outpatient TB services based on the current model of TB care delivery in Moldova - a multidisciplinary team at the level of TB cabinet. They are aimed at the continuous provision of people-centered TB care in conditions of the epidemic and at the same time at ensuring the safety of the staff providing such assistance. The document was approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova and serves as guidelines for the territorial TB care services. With the permission of the National Program, recommendations have been distributed to TB-REP 2.0 project countries for use. The document was also sent to the Stop TB Partnership, which posted it on the organization website for general use, alongside with similar documents from three other countries.
